Crabby Mommy

Remember Miss Hannigan? That is who I feel like today.

**If you don't know who I'm talking about you must immediately hotfoot it down to Blockbuster and pick up Annie. Not the new one, you need the one from 1982.

Papa and the Baby doll

There are few things Elizabeth enjoys more than looking at pictures of herself. She still doesn't say her name, instead she points and says "baby!" or "baby doll!" when she sees herself. So we were looking on facebook today and saw this picture of baby Elizabeth with Papa. She got so excited it was cute. She said "Awwww, Papa! Yay Papa. I love Papa." I am not trying to solicit any type of payment from my dad with that story, that is really what she said.

And on a side note: Have you ever seen a cuter baby? Other than your own babies and grandbabies? And of course my other three?

Another side note: I sure did swipe that picture right off Claudia's facebook. Anything on there is fair game as far as I am concerned.

It just is not much fun to blog when I don't have pictures. I still have not taken my camera in to be fixed because I don't want to be without it on vacation. The quality is pretty bad since there is no flash, but I figure it will take some nice outside shots, which is mostly what we will be wanting in Colorado anyway.

I am mostly finished with my schoolwork this session. It is always strange to me how my school works. I took my final last night but the class is not over until Sunday. So I'm still supposed to read the last few chapters (Shhh! I'm not going to!) and finish a few little assignments.

I am very excited to head out on vacation! We leave Saturday bright and early. However I am a little nervous about traveling 13 hours with Ian because of his carsickness. I will be bringing medicine for him so hopefully he will do okay. The two older girls are champion car travelers though, fortunately. With Elizabeth we will have to see... It will be so much fun once we get there though. I am sure I will come back with a lot of new stories.

So for the rest of the week I am just getting caught up on our laundry and getting packed. I skipped church tonight to get stuff done around the house and now I wish I wouldn't have. I always miss it when I don't go, so I am determined to make it a priority from here on out.

I am sorry this was not very entertaining. It had been a while since I wrote anything and I kept waiting for some inspiration. It obviously didn't come, so this is the result. :)

The fashion police strike again

Before I begin my term paper, I thought I would procrastinate by doing a little blogging. We haven't been up to much exciting, just gearing up for vacation and such. Today I took Annika to the dr., then I took the kids to the park (it was perfect weather), fed them a couple times and just finished a rousing game of Bible Go Fish which I found funny(Do you have any John the Baptists? No, go fish.)

The fashion police have been in full force lately. Or I should say the police officer, singular. Annika has always been picky about clothes, but at least she is only concerned with her own clothes, unlike some others I could name. A few days ago, Ian got really annoyed because Annika was going to wear Alexandria's dress, or vice versa, I can't remember. He was trying to wrestle the dress on its hanger out of the hands of the girl that it didn't belong to all the while yelling "That's not yours! You can't wear that!" Never mind the fact that the actual owner of the dress didn't have a problem sharing it, in Ian's eyes it was just unacceptable. Today I was getting everyone dressed and he didn't like anyone's clothing choices. I put him in a short sleeved button up the front shirt with turtles and lizards on it. He griped and griped about how he didn't like it and it was an old man's shirt. He didn't like Alexandria's Aladdin t-shirt because it was old and he didn't like my shirt because it was too churchy. This coming from the kid that wears cowboy boots with his swim trunks. I allowed him to change his own shirt, but he had to suffer looking at everyone else's old/churchy clothes.

Adventures in potty training: Part Four

***Warning TMI**

I know Elizabeth just turned two but I think it is high time she potty trained. She is big enough to have been following me to the bathroom for months and insisting I take off her diaper so she can sit on the potty...although all she does is sit. She was big enough today at church to decide to take off her diaper and run around the nursery bare bottemed. She was also big enough when we got home to decide she did not like having a dirty diaper, so unbeknownst to me she just slipped it right off and continued playing. That required a bath and floor scrubbing. (I seriously would like to know how many times I have dealt with cleaning up poo in the last month because I am betting it is in the double digits by now.) So I am trying to get up the energy to start my fourth and final go-round with potty training. Maybe after vacation. I somehow don't think a sixteen hour car ride would be all that fun with a two year old wearing big girl pants.

The new American Girl catalog arrived in the mail yesterday. The baby grabbed it and sat on my bed poring over it. She studied it for quite some time, pointing out what she liked and saying, "I want that...and I want that...and I want that."

Procrastination is my middle name

I have a 10 page paper due, a debate and a rebuttal, about 10 chapters to read and a final to study for...on top of my regular homework. Waaaah!!!

Happy Birthday Chandra

Happy birthday to my sister Cha-Ba! I hope you had a great day. I wish I had my scanner working because I could have had some fun posting pictures.

Last of the fourth of July pictures

This is my last post with Fourth of July pictures but I had to show off Elizabeth in her patriotic outfit. My Grandma Watts made this for Alexandria when she was a baby and I just love it. She had so much talent- look it is even reversible. I am a little sad that this is my last baby to wear it so I had to get lots of pictures.

More fourth of July

One of the few pictures I got of Alexandria:

Fourth of July

We had a great day yesterday. We headed up to Papa and Nana's and swam, watched the boat parade, ate some great food and watched fireworks on the lake.

Elizabeth the nail tech

I think we are going to have our hands full with Elizabeth when she is a teenager. She is already such a girly girl! She absolutely can not stand to see someone else painting their nails and not doing hers. The other day I was painting my toenails and she stuck her foot out at me and said "Foot. Put here." (Which totally reminded me of that SNL skit with the caveman and Tonto, but I digress.)

Today I went to the store and as soon as I walked in the door Karl asked me where the fingernail polish remover was. Elizabeth was covered in bright red nail polish, as was the hardwood floor in my bedroom. I thought she just dumped the polish out, but as i looked closer, I could see she sincerely was trying to cover each of her
little toenails and fingernails.

And I am sad to say the pictures look like this because our camera is broken. The camera that we just bought in February. We are going to get it fixed as soon as I can bear to part with it.

That boy

Whenever I tell Karl about Ian's latest misdeeds he sighs and says "That boy." Needless to say I hear that a lot. Today 'that boy' was in a mood. He was in trouble all day long. So today was fourteen hours (yes I counted) of dealing with his naughtiness. He just fell asleep about a half an hour ago (10:30, yikes!) Our last fight was over where he would sleep. He said downstairs on the couch, I said upstairs in his bedroom. I just found him like this:

Would you call that a compromise?

Doesn't every seven year old need her own laptop?

One of the benefits of Karl working in IT is we get hand me down computers when they decide it is time to upgrade. So Karl brought this laptop home for Annika today which made her very happy. She decide she needed her own blog as well so we set one up for her. It is set to private so if I didn't get you on the list and you want to be just let me know. I believe we now have six computers in this household, plus Karl's phone can access the internet. This is getting ridiculous!
